38 Week Bump

Our Atlanta Perinatal appointment that we had today went really well.  Squirt is currently around 7lbs 9oz and the doctor couldn’t find any complications.  We are currently scheduled to discuss the inducing date with Kayla’s OB this Thursday!  If baby girl hasn’t arrived on her own before next week, we’re going to hit the ejection button.  That’s pretty exciting stuff!   I can’t believe she’s almost here.  We’re both super excited and we’re still scrambling to get everything just right.  Since the date is so close we decided to take a few images of Kayla’s bump before it goes away.  It has definitely grown since the last few belly pictures we took here and here.  We wanted to find a nice location outdoors but since nothing’s really in bloom and it’s still chilly we opted for a quick stop and Jo-Ann’s fabric store and hung a piece of fabric in the spare room.  Check out that belly!

Babies and Bowling

Kayla and I have been super busy preparing for the big day.  But, I just wanted to take a minute and blog about the great time we had last Sunday.  Courtney, Mom Christoff, along with the help of friends and family threw us one heck of a baby shower!  The decorations were great, the food was scrumptious, and the company was the best.  Friends we hadn’t seen in a while stopped by and we had family from in-town and out-of-town show up to give us some love and support.  All the guys decided to go bowling while the ladies stayed at the house playing games, telling stories, giving motherly advice, eating mucho sweets, and sharing a heap of gifts with Kayla (see pic below).  We just want to thank everyone for showing up and really making the day something special.  I wish I could have stayed and taken some images of the party but I was pretty tied up with schooling my Dad at bowling.  😉

Ted the Tool Man Taylor

The Daddy Boot Camp class I attended on Saturday proved to be CAKE compared to the little dimmer switch and ceiling fan I installed in the nursery today.  It was supposed to be such an easy DIY project. But, I was bombarded with setback after setback.  Nothing major, just little things.  The plastic mount holding up the previous light fixture, the need for an expandable metal joist, balance beaming like Shawn Johnson in the attic, the grommets..oy the GROMMETS!  But, with some encouraging words from Kayla, two trips to Home Depot, and a quick call to my Dad, I was able to get er done!  Its hard to describe the satisfaction I felt when I flipped the breaker in the basement, letting loose the power to the nursery, and felt the cool breeze from the Hunter Ashlyn 42 in. ceiling fan.  Ahhhh….  I’m totally calling an electrician next time…

Office Shower

The office threw us a huge shower yesterday.  Kayla and I were put front and center in a gigantor, FULLY decorated, conference room.  Where we were then then showered with yummy food, great gifts, and the best company.  We are truly grateful for all the support we’ve received from our co-workers/teammates/family.  🙂  We love you guys!

Reflection

So I turned 32 today.  I may not feel any older or wiser but I definitely feel thankful.  I’m thankful for all the wonderful people in my life.  I received Happy Birthday wishes from many friends and family, my Dad came down to spend the day with me, and my In-laws took me out for a special birthday dinner.  It was a really great weekend.  I received some awesome gifts too!  I got an iPhone 4s, gift cards, sewing templates, a precious statue, and a wii-mote+.  Yea, you could say I racked up pretty good.  If only the birthday Gods would grant me one more wish, I’m wishing for a happy and healthy baby girl.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed for that one.  Thanks everyone for making this weekend something special.
